Correlation-free and metrologically traceable inline metrology

The correlation-free inline metrology ZEISS AICell trace enables real-time process monitoring of complex features as well as support for production ramp-up. The innovative tracking technology used with the fast ZEISS AIMax cloud 3D sensor monitors the sensor position on the robot arm with high precision. This eliminates the need for time-consuming correlation measurements in the measuring room.

    The ZEISS AICell trace inline measuring system measures very complex features and important functional dimensions on assemblies and car bodies in real time. The high-precision ZEISS AIMax cloud sensor generates very dense point clouds and measures features such as a welding nut behind sheet metal with just one shot. The system works without correlation - the ejection of individual parts and complete bodies from the production line as well as additional transportation costs are eliminated.

By using this metrologically traceable technology, all relevant digital quality information is provided and all measuring points and functional dimensions relevant for continuous process monitoring are measured in cycle time. The comprehensive measuring point plan can be implemented via rolling measurements or pause programs. Thanks to the metrological traceability and the consideration of customer-specific measuring principles in the inline metrology, series measurements can now be carried out directly in the production line, which were previously only possible in the measuring room.

In addition to the exact sensor position, the tracking cameras also capture their own position, which can change due to temperature fluctuations. The stability modules form the fixed spatial reference for the tracking system. Temperature compensation enables highly precise and reliable measurements even in production environments with high temperature gradients.

Robot-independent accuracy

Robot-independent accuracy

ZEISS AICell trace turns the robot into a simple sensor carrier. This eliminates all mechanical and thermal influences of the robot on the measurement result. The system accuracy is independent of the robot's ability to position the sensor precisely.

Visualization of the measurement results

Visualization of the measurement results

The measurement results are visualized directly after the measurement in the connected ZEISS INDI software. Feature extraction in the point cloud can be set up quickly and is user-friendly. The software can also be used to perform statistical evaluations and configure the measurement plan. In conjunction with the ZEISS AIMax cloud sensor, efficiency and productivity can be increased and costs minimized:

  • Near-fault identification incl. Q-Stop functionality 
  • Downstream evaluation of image files for targeted root cause analysis
  • Evaluation of measurement curves and trends per measuring point
  • Visualization of the generated point cloud
  • Display / visualization of all measurement results on a part

Carbon Fiber Navigation Tool

The LED detection markers are integrated in a carbon body. This ensures precise identification of the position of the 3D sensor, even in industrial environments.

Tracking cameras

In addition to the exact sensor position, the tracking cameras also capture their own position, which can change due to temperature fluctuations in the production environment.

Stability modules

The stability modules form the fixed spatial reference for the tracking system. The temperature compensation of the measuring system enables high-precision and reliable measurements even in production environments with high temperature gradients.

ZEISS AIMax cloud

The optical 3D sensor generates a very dense point cloud and thus enables the evaluation of complex features on sheet metal.

We save the logistics routes to the measuring room and the time lag between product and measurement.
